Faience Monkey
Faience figure of an ape, a popular subject in both painting and sculpture. The original pale turquoise glaze has mostly worn off but otherwise the figure is in good condition. Monkeys and baboons were often observed shrieking loudly before dawn as if encouraging the sun to rise. This is why they were associated with resurrection and often depicted on tomb walls.
