jewel chest of Tuyu

Detail from the jewel chest of Tuyu, depicting Heh, the god of the Million Years. Found empty of any jewels as the tomb was robbed in antiquity, the chest was originally constructed for Tuyu's daughter, Tiye, who placed it in the tomb as offering. Tiye became the wife of Amehnhotep III and mother of Akhenaten. Country of Origin: Ancient Egypt. Period/ Date: New Kingdom 1391 - 1353 BC, 18th Dynasty.
