Furniture inlay of glass tile

Furniture inlay of glass tiles, depicting a theatrical mask of an old man, framed by flowers.These tiny fragments were made from polychrome glass canes laid side by side to create a picture. The rods were fused, left to cool, stretched to miniaturise the image, then sliced to form each piece. Country of Origin: Egypt. Culture: Ancient Egyptian. Date/Period: c.2nd/1st C.BC.
